And it happened again 🙂 only this time it was triggered by my previous employer who decided they no longer needed my services.
After 5 months of soul searching and job hunting (what can I say … tough market) I found myself working in a new field – Video Conferencing – obviously doing what I do best (Infrastructure).
The company I now work for is called New Era Technology and my team is responsible for the Video Conferencing infrastructure side with me as their senior Sys Admin (when I started the job title was: Systems Administrator / Programmer … in the mean time it changed to Senior Programmer … regardless of that at its core it’s Sys Admin 🙂 )
What can I say, I like them, nice people, small team of skilled engineers, big goals and a lot of energy. As soon as I started I asked my manager what are the biggest pain points for the business where I could make a difference and he put together a list for me with projects for improving various aspects of the infrastructure as well as new tools / platforms / services we want next (I call it “the menu”) – I also contributed to the list with a few ideas – and now I’m working through it and making it happen.
Let’s see what the future brings 🙂
PS. I realise this post appeared a little later than it should have … it is what it is, this is when I felt like posting it …
